THINGS TO DO ON THE ISLES OF SCILLY

There are many activities to suit all ages across the Islands, whether your day be spent Island hopping, walking the coastlines or simply lounging on the many beaches. Here are some of our favourite suggestions of activities whilst on holiday on Scilly.

  • Sandy Beaches & Rock Pooling – lots of safe sandy beaches in walking distance from the farm. Perfect for snorkelling, swimming, paddling, sunbathing, beachcombing and playing in dinghies.

  • Raptor Boating – (run by Farmer Dan) for wildlife & scenic tours, direct water taxis, private charters, and Penzance to Scilly trips on foggy days when flights are disrupted. 

  • Sailing, Wind Surfing, Paddle Boarding, Kayaking

  • Coasteering around Peninnis Headland 

  • Golf – a course with a view

  • Local Fishing Excursions 

  • Wine tasting at the local vineyard

  • Rock Pooling & Shrimping on the low spring tide

  • Boat Hire – why not hire a small motor boat from Bryher and explore the tranquil waters

  • Boat Trips – regular daily boat trips to the other islands

  • Swim with the seals!

  • Galleries & Studios – wandering around the islands you will stumble upon many local artists & galleries.

  • Bicycle Hire – an ideal way to explore St Mary’s at your own pace with child trailers available for little ones  

  • Horse Riding – trek along the coastal paths or along the beaches 

 

  • Golf Buggy Hire – an easy way to explore St Mary’s with the children at your own pace

  • Coastal walks – explore the nature trails, heathlands & beaches at your leisure and enjoy the views.

  • Children’s Play Parks – there is a pirate ship play park on the Garrison and a small park by Porthcressa Beach in Hugh Town.

  • Tresco Abbey Gardens – have a day exploring the sub-tropical Tresco Gardens

  • Gig Racing– come and cheer for your favourite island on a Wednesday & Friday night, either watch from the quay or follow on a boat

  • Evening Entertainment – there is often performance plays, slide shows, pantomimes and live music- check the ‘What’s On’ board in town to find out more when you arrive

  • There are lots of family friendly restaurants, cafes and pubs for eating out

  • Radio Scilly broadcasts 24 hours a day – tune in to prepare for your holiday & reminisce when back home

  • Scilly Webcam uploads many island photos with a guest book – perfect for keeping up-to-date with what’s happening on Scilly
